What is it about
The Wega Power project is a software solution to a problem I was challenged by the people from Wega Power. This software solution consists of few independent modules and it’s end goal is to bring the ability to monitor and remote manage controller devices for wind generators created and produced by Wega Power.
Project history and challenge
The people from Wega Power are a small team with a great idea. To create a wind generator and produce electricity from renewable energy sources, in this case wind.
They had almost everything figured out. They had a wind turbine, a generator that produces electricity and they had a controller unit that stored the produced energy in batteries for later consumption.
So far so good. But they had a problem. The only way the owner of the wind generator could see the amount of produced energy or modify the settings of the control unit was to physically connect to the controller via COM port and see the data in real-time (no history data for the produced energy).
A project was born
Once I knew what was the end goal first I needed to design a solution.

The Project design was simple.
Create a client module that connects to the Control Unit and reads data via RS-232 (COM port), then sends the data via internet to a remote server. The server on the other hand receives the data, stores it and presents an User Interface that the device owner can use to see history data and modify settings. When the user modifies some settings the server will have to send back to the client module the new settings for the controller and the client module should apply the new settings to the Control Unit via the RS-232 connection.
First Challenges
Client Module Hardware.
